August Chapter Meeting – CalOSHA Crane Requirements

Please join us for the August ASSE Chapter Meeting to discuss the CalOSHA updated crane requirements. CalOSHA has indicated compliance with the new regulations will take effect on November10, 2017 (the deadline).

We are privileged to Mr. Richard (Dick) Thompson, Technical Coordinator and Manager of California Affairs to present to us. Dick is a veteran of 48 years in the construction industry, with a safety and risk management record spanning three decades. He has worked throughout California and the western U.S. liaising closely with all operational levels to manage effective safety programs to identify and mitigate hazards in heavy construction and mining environments.
He is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), a CCO-certified crane operator (TSS and TLL), CCO-Certified Rigger Level I and II and Signalperson, Class A Driver, as well as an OSHA 10- and 30-Hour Instructor, and he was recently appointed to California’s Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board Advisory Committee tasked with consolidating the state’s crane safety orders.

Dick is also NCCCO’s primary point of contact with California employers, industry groups and state jurisdictions such as Cal-OSHA.
