Description:
Production in construction will cover and help identify risk by reviewing best practices in ergonomics for common construction tasks. At the end of this session you should be able to better control the project's overexertion injuries in regards to manual material handling tasks. We will discuss the importance of incorporating ergonomics and manual material handling issues as an integral part of any construction project.
Objectives:
- Relate the basic elements of ergonomics in the construction industry
- Establish that ergonomics is a powerful tool that should be used to control losses/injuries/risk
- Look to explore the application of ergonomics to the contractor's operations
Speaker Biography:
Robert Pinney is currently a Technical Consultant II for Loss Control Advisory Services at Liberty Mutual. He is responsible for providing facilitative safety consulting and training services to construction and transportation clients in the western United States. Mr. Pinney has over 20 years experience as a safety professional with Liberty Mutual. He has broad expertise in many facets of occupational health and safety, such as ergonomics, industrial hygiene and machine guarding.
Mr. Pinney has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, Electronics from California State Long Beach.
